Privacy Policy

Effective Date: January 1, 2026 | Last Updated: February 2026

At Scoutcliparchive ("we," "our," or "us"), operated under Scoutcliparchive Europe B.V., registered in Amsterdam, Netherlands (Company No. NL-84920412), we value and respect the privacy of every traveler and user who visits our web portal (scoutcliparchive.mom). This Privacy Policy outlines in full compliance with the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) how we collect, process, protect, and handle your information.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information in two ways: directly provided by you, and automatically via our servers and browser storage:

• Direct Communications: When you use our contact form or subscribe to travel updates, we receive your name, email address, inquiry topic, and message content.
• Interactive Tool Inputs: Calculations you perform in our Hostel Budget Calculator or Route Engine are executed locally in your browser and are not tied to personally identifiable records unless explicitly exported.
• Technical & Log Data: Standard server logs record your IP address, browser type, referral URLs, language preference, and device viewport to ensure the correct responsive rendering of maps and timetables.

2. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR Article 6)

We process your personal data under the following legitimate grounds:

• Legitimate Interests: Improving platform performance, securing our servers against malicious attacks, and providing accurate route recommendations.
• Consent: Where you have provided clear consent for optional analytics or newsletter subscriptions, which you may revoke at any time.
• Legal Compliance: Retaining records where mandated by European accounting or commercial laws.

3. Cookies and Local Storage

We employ client-side localStorage solely to remember your route preferences and whether you have acknowledged our Cookie Consent Banner. Essential cookies are required to deliver core functionality. For an itemized breakdown of each cookie used, please read our dedicated Cookie Policy.

4. Data Processors and Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties. We may share minimal necessary data with trusted service providers who adhere to rigorous data processing agreements (DPAs):

• Cloud hosting and CDN infrastructure providers within the European Economic Area (EEA).
• Transactional email service providers to respond to customer inquiries.
• Mapping API providers to render distance vectors.

5. Your Rights Under GDPR and CCPA

As a user, you hold comprehensive rights regarding your personal information:

• Right to Access: Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
• Right to Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete records.
• Right to Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"): Request complete deletion of your information from our active databases.
• Right to Restrict or Object: Restrict or object to the processing of your personal information.
• Right to Data Portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.

6. Data Retention & International Transfers

Contact inquiries are retained for a maximum of 24 months to address ongoing customer support needs, after which they are securely purged. All primary servers are located inside the EU. In the event of cross-border transfers outside the EEA, we enforce European Commission Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).
